Hometown series-Iwayado-

In this “Hometown series”,”Iwayado” will be introduced.
It is located in Wakasa-cho, Yazu-gun, Tottori prefecture, which is the same as the Wakasa Railway introduced previously.
It takes about 10 minutes by car from Wakasa Station.
Before that, I will explain about Route 29.
Route 29 is Tottori City, which is the prefectural capital of Tottori Prefecture,
It is a general national road connecting Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture.
During the Warring States period, Tottori castle owner and Himeji castle owner,
Being the same Ikeda family,
Roads were being maintained for traffic.
In 2005, Tottori Expressway became free,
Since the whole line was opened in 2013, the traffic volume has decreased significantly.
Until then, it was a highway connecting Tottori City and the Keihanshin area.
This is on the way from Wakasa-cho to Tottori City,
It is a crushed stone factory.

On the national highway 29, the border between Hyogo and Tottori prefectures,
The “Iwayado” is located immediately after getting off the Tokura Pass.
The official name is “Fudoin Iwayado”.
One of Japan’s top three halls,
It is designated as an important cultural property of the country.
I will introduce it later in this program,
In Tottori prefecture, there is “Mitokusan Sanbutsuji temple hall”.
This is a national treasure, and I think many of you know it.
As Mitokusan is built on a precipitous cliff,
You have to climb a steep mountain road.
It is said to be the most dangerous national treasure in Japan.
On the other hand, “Iwayado”, which is the same hall,
It is located on a mountain road that is about 2 minutes by car from National Route 29.
It’s a very easy and safe loading hall.

Built in 806 AD,
It is built in a natural cave with a frontage of about 7m, height of 13m and depth of 10m.
There is a Irimoya roof on the front and a Kirituma roof on the back.
Koubou Daishi (Kukai) is a Fudo Myo who was engraved at the age of 33,
With Meguro Fudo and Meaka Fudo in Tokyo,
It is said to be the three major Fudo Myo in Japan.
This completes the introduction of “Iwayado”.
